Anyone know if i can take a dvd authoring program (for example MyDvd),renaming the movie file (talking about divx movie) to Vob and play it on any dvd-rom players?
if its not possible (im sure u can't do scene selection this way),can anyone heck or at least come up with a nice dvd like authoring program that can play Divx movies?
with the power of making menu styles and trensition effects,just like dvd authoring but just for Divx.
And don't tell me to use MicroDvd its total cr*p ;)

Yes, they are coming (from Kiss and from Yamakawa, using a Sigma chip) ... and - like Sigmas x-card - they won't be able to play divx3, won't play divx5 if the file happens to use neither global motion compensation or QPEL ... thanks a lot. Face it: so far, there is no real standardization for today's avi formats (and I doubt there will ever be) ... and that's why I guess divx won't go much beyond the HTPC (which is not bad).

agreed. and i don't even think about buying a standalone player. Just wanted to mention it :-P

i don't even own a standalone DVD player... so why the hell should i buy a standalone mpeg4 player that doesn't even support have of my divx movies because they are encoded in divx3!!
anyway IMHO my computer with TV out is definitly enough! for my purposes at least!
