I'm trying to understand this and i did some searches to no avail. In the audioguides there is a mention of ac3 to regular? ac3 transcoding with AC3Machine & BeSweet. Can someone explain the difference or point me to a faq? When you rip out the audiostream with smartripper you get an ac3 file, right? With my Audigy soundcard there was some ac3 files provided on the software cd-rom wich play great in Creative playcenter & shows 5.1 ac3 extention but if i rip a track from a dvd it does not play nor show an extention in Creative playcenter. Is that what ac3 to regular ac3 means? It's confusing both have the same extention but seems to have different properties.

I posted a similar question a while back and did not get even one reply. Is this a stupid question or doesn't anyone know the difference between ac3 and regular ac3?.I know my way around file extentions but have never encounted this before.

I think you can transcode at normal AC3 which is 448 kbit to a lower bitrate. But also quality loss.
