Hi all
I'm encoding with Gknot and Divx 5 pro
Now, i don,t really have a problem ripping since my movies play great, but i'm unabvle to seek through them in the player...
I don,t know why, movies i download off the net are ok, but not the ones i make!
does anybody why this is hapenning?
i did pretty much everything that's in the doom9 guide!

You likely aren't putting in enough keyframes. Without getting too technical (you should find a guide to read for that -- it'll be better than this explanation), your video has keyframes (whole images) and delta frames (just what has changed from the previous frame). Delta frames usually take up much less room. Neat!
Trouble is that when you try to move from where you are to someplace later in the file, your player must either start from a keyframe or from where you currently are, whichever is closer to where you want to be. If there aren't any keyframes between "here" and "there", then your player must process every single frame between "here" and "there" before it starts to play again. It looks like it's frozen, but actually it's really busy doing a lot of processing.
Somewhere in GKnot (I haven't used it), you'll find something to set regarding how often to place a keyframe. Generally, most people are fairly comfortable with one every 10 seconds. A little more in final filesize, but moving back and forth should then be a snap.
