View Full Version : Freezed frames - Avidefreeze

I have successfully encoded a film using Gordian Knot , the divx5 tutorial and the divx5.02 pro.
I had a great quality film! (the films was Matrix, by the way).
But the film is freezing in the elevator explosion. Iīm using both BSplayer 0.85 and MicroDVD Player 1.2. They both freezes at the same spot.
So I tried to use the Avidefreeze. First I opened the movie with
VirtualDub and slided to the part where it was freezing at my players. But at Virtualdub it wasnīt freezing! And the sound was
out of syncronization.
I still wrote down the frame position and ran Avidefreeze. But this program closed right away when I cliked "Defreeze" button after I added the star and finish position.
What else can I do?

If you've been following the guide, then you've been creating variable bit rate (vbr) mp3. You must use Nandub rather than VirtualDub when dealing with vbr mp3 audio avi files. If you want to work in VirtualDub, you can still do so with the video track only (the ..._Movie.avi file) and then mux the audio in Nandub manually afterwards.
To eliminate freeze-frame behavior, try eliminating all post-processing features in DivX: Start...Programs...DivX Codec... Decoder Configuration.

Thank you VERY MUCH!!

I unchecked the "Smooth Playback" and the film is no longer freezing.
Just like magic!!

I have also a question regarding the divx settings.
I set the Quality Level to the min (Default). Changed to the MAX
but I couldnīt see any difference (at the on the Matrix my first
and only one film I have ripped yet - it was my first test).
What are the diferrence ?
I also unchecked the smooth playback , but the film is still very smooth !! :)) - Perfect good looking rip.

By the way, Iīm using an AMX XP1700+ , Soltek 75DR-5V, 512MB PC2700
DDR and GeForce3 Ti 200.
Who needs to go to the cinema?:))

Hi Guys,

My first post on here, and already i'm thanking someone :)

Encoded robocop 1 and 2, bith with great quality and spot on file size, BUT they each had at least one point where the video froze while the audio continues.

Your tip of switching off the smooth playback in the codec config worked a treat :)

Cheers:)
