Hi
I started encoding a short while ago
so I dont know any of the technical stuff people talk about in the forums
I just know how to do the basic encoding and improving the video a ltitle bit
but I was encoding this anime clip for practice and the video is desynched!
I ripped the audio, applied filters and encoded it with huffy
then reencoded it with the audio with divx3.11
now the anime works fine in divx player
but in wMP it messes up!
i have a 900 MHz comp
some ppl says its good enough
some ppl says i need a faster cpu and ram
but i dunno what to do
I use vdub for the first encode (applying fitlers)
and encode with nandub for the divx compression and reencoding the audio
ill try encoding without ripping the audio
but if anyone has had this problem can you please help me with it on how i can make it so that it doesnt desynch from the audio?
btw i encoded this smaller anime clip and it was fine
also this small rap freestyle clip and it was fine too
both had smaller resolutions buti noticed that with resolutions that are bigger (TV resolution) it desynchs
would appreciate some help
thanks alot in avanced!

You encoded that video with HuffYUV? That means it will be huge. AVI's don't work right when they're larger than 2GB, which a HuffYUV video will easily surpass.
How large is the video which is out of sync?

i know huffy makes it over 2GB
actually the uncompressed first encode is 12GB
someone who was expereicned in anime encoding said that huffy seems to be the better choice
i compress with divx of course
but it always seems to be desynched
my file after its compressed is 200MB
i can make it 150 MB but oh well
too lazy to reencode to make it smaller

Ok, yes HuffYUV is good as a source to encode from. I misunderstood, I thought you had the final video as huffy :), now reading your first post again I see that you used the huffy to encode to DivX3.
A 900MHz should be good enough for just about anything as far as DivX3 is concerned. But just to give me a clear picture (:)), what resolution is the final video?
Also, what interleaving settings did you use to mux the audio with the video?
Did I understood correctly that you encode the video and audio simultaniously with Nandub? This a good way to get audio out of sync if you didn't know. Always encode the audio and video seperately and mux them together afterwards.

In nandub
i went to audio settings and chose the mp3 audio
(i ripped it out remember? I converted it to mp3 lossless using dbpoweramp)
I went thru a series of 2 encodes
first encode is all the filters in huffy
AND i ripped the audio (also encoded WITHOUT the audio)
second encode is the huffy version
i took that version and i selected the mp3 audio and reencoded with divx 3.11 (with the audio of course)
so basically i took the huffy with no audio and put the audio back in
the resolution is 720x480
i guess it isnt exactly tv res
oh well
hehe
NOTE:
also there was this other person that i THOUGHT had the same prob as i did but its not the same since his version only desynched when he skipped thru with the timeline
mine desynches cuz my video is too slow
i also noticed just now that when im watching a professionally fansubbed anime the video speeds up when it is behind (only happens when i skip thru timeline) and mine doesnt do that
=/

so basically i took the huffy with no audio and put the audio back inYes, but you did it WHILE encoding, which is bad.
Next time encode to huffy without audio, then encode the huffy to DivX without audio, then reopen DivX video with Nandub and interleave the MP3.
Hmm, 720x480 is quite a high resolution. Could you monitor cpu load during playback? If it ever reaches 100%, then you can be sure the high resolution is why it loses sync.
I'm running out of options here :)

ok thanks!
il try it
and i udnerstand ur situation
kind of hard to picture the situation when u only have text
picture is worht a thousand words in this case
ill try it and monitor the CPU usage
thanks alot for ur help on this though!
Very helpful!

ummmmmm
well I got mixed results here
I opened the video i did with WMP and it reached 100% almost all the time
but then i opened the same video encoded by an experienced person and his went around 96% at the beginning and dropped to around 70% and only went higher the more movement there was
i checked both again and on the second time both were 100%
I then opened both in divx player and tried to skip past the intro with my version of the video and it gave me an error saying it eneds more virtual memory
but when i did it with the other video encoded by the experienced person his worked fine
>.<
PS:
also is the huffy encode supposed to be off synch as well?
cuz i encoded a new one last nite with fewer filters, just a little sharpness and a lil brightness added
but when watch it with WMP its kind of slow, the frames are slowly changing (at the beginning only tho)
does that matter when ur gonna compress with divx?
