I'm unable to do snapshots of ogm or avi movies (XVid coded video) with bsplayer - tried version 479 to 490 - on my XP system.
On W98SE it had worked before !!
Then I tried to find the appropiate function in Zoomplayer amongst all that million functions to check/uncheck.
Somewhere it tells me to configure filter manually for that purpose.
At that point I got ...lost. Filter? Why? Where?
In the readme I think I found something intersting about M$ having changed the video rendering machine for XP. Is that the hot spot ?
Oh, stupid as I am: May somebody explain to me how to do snapshots in Zoomplayer or how to reactivate that function in bsplayer?
BTW, bsplayer produces pictures one after another with continuing number index. Perfect for chapter file (.cbf) creating!

I got problems capturing images when overlay is switched to Mode2 in BSPlayer. With Mode1, I can do screenshots without problems.

Well, didn't think of that one.
Indeed, I changed to Mode 2 a while ago.
I can confirm, it's now working in Mode 1.
Thanks a lot.

Hello,

I tried BSPlayer 0.85.490 and in neither modes does it work for OGM on my system (XP Professional), which is a big headache since I can't take any screenshots with post-processing atm.

Any idea or any other player capable of doing that?

regards,
iago

Hello,

I don't know how but it's OK now in Mode 1. Any way of searching by frames?

@Flay

Thanks for the answer and sorry for the late reply, but I tried your player too and it also seeks by time intervals (seconds) or keyframes, and not by "frames", right?

If it "does" seek to frames and I haven't discovered how, can you please explain how I can go to "frame: 2450" for example in an avi?

thanks,
iago

to take screenshot, you can try virtual dub + avisynth.
Use the directshowsource option from avisynth, and it will display as if it was Media Player playing the video, but you will be able to seek frame by frame, and you will able to make screenshot, with you printscreen button.

iago: Unfortunately Light Alloy haven't ability to jump to specified frame number. This feature will be added in version 2.x.

By default, player seeks to keyframes (it's faster) but you can disable this feature in "Preferences".

Also you can use button "Frame step" to precisely select frame you need.

That will be a good improvement imho, so screenshots of certain frames can be taken, especially for reasons of comparison between two encodes using post-processing ;).

Or else, there already "are" some other players that can take screenshots by time intervals (seconds), and jump to next frame without specifying the frame number (making it a real pain to find the exact required frame), which still do not serve the purpose I mentioned above.
