In the FAQ on CCE 2.5 it says

"The Image Quality Priority indicates how many bits will be allocated to complex parts of the picture. It's a value between 0 and 100 and the smaller the value the more bits will be allocated to complex parts. If you think scenes with a low amount of action look bad you should increase this value."

The default with DVD2SVCD is 17. Is their a "best"? I have read the CCE 2.5 manual, serached the forums, and I am still not sure what the trade offs are for what constitues the "best" setting in DV2SVCD for the IQP for CCE 2.5

Is this a "stupid" question? Does it even matter? The default of 17 seems to work just fine. Should I stop looking for the best setting for IQP and just enjoy and accept the IQP=17?

Simply put u don't need to know. There isn't such a thing as the "best settings" because the beauty lies in the eye of the beholder.

If ur results look good to u then ur OK. But try some enocodes with a higer setting and see if u like it. Perhaps u'd be surprised.

If u want some different settings to try out go into the advanced forum where ppl. discuss thier personal settings.

Will do. Did not know if other than "eye of the beholder" concept, there were any "absolutes"

Sort of figured that the author of DV2SVCD had done all the thinking for me and by his choices, picked the best settings.

Always that desire to pick a better setting and accept increased encoding time or larger number of CDR blanks for a given length of a DVD movie.

I have become "obsessed" with image quality!

Thanks!
