I have done searches but have not found anything as how to increaase the quality on SVCDs, even if it means increasing the # of cds needed to make the movie. I've found several "these are the settings I use", but nothing on increasing quality. Is it possible?? How can I increase the quality, even if it means the movie having to take more cds to burn?? Thanks.

the simplest and quickest way to do this is to go with CBR encoding, at a maximum acceptable video bitrate (acceptable for your DVD player I mean). Re, set min avg, max avg & max video bitrate at - say - 2500 b/sec, with sound at 244kb/sec, and you will get, ususally, a 2 hours movie on 3 800 Mb cd's, at a very good quality. One advantage will be that you will have a choice as to which chapters to include in one CD (bear in mind that, with this CBR, you will get around 38-40 minutes/CD, so you can choose a selection of chapters in this range). Also, according to your preferences, you may do bicubic resize or simple resize (faster), and apply some filters, as well. But for a DVD source, using a high CBR plus bicubic resize will, most of the time, give very satisfactory results.

I bet you will get one reply of the sort "read the FAQ", "read the stickies" or "use search for this, so many posts on this subject". So, feel free to do this, also. This link http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=25860 will be one of the results, where, mainly, the encoding method is VBR, having the first objective to get an encode of best quality & smallest size combined. However, you will not be able to control, so easily as above, the cut of your CD's (unless you want the cut to be done automatically, at the required size, you will, probably, have to use a cut-tool, as TMPGEnc, or M2-Edit Pro).

Search for more, and make your choice. Good luck
