I am using dvd2svcd to create an SVCD. All goes fine, until I try to play it in PowerDVD XP. I load the .cue into daemon, direct powerDVD to it, it opens the file, but then shows error bad format, and It wont play.
Is this a problem with the audio or the video, or what ?
Source is PAL DVD
Encoder is CCE 2.5sp (Not Cracked)

I also use PowerDVD and I have no problems with it. I dont think that the last version of Power DVD was able to play SVCDs, are you sure that you have the newest version? Did you have version 3.0 installed before? Also there are some patches that are out for the new version you can try installing them and see if that works. If not then I would uninsstall everything and try to install it again.

I have been using PowerDVD XP to watch all my (S)VCD's with no problems. Ones that I have created myself, and ones I have downloaded or borrowed from other people. Daemon tools Mounts all images with no problems, and Nero Burns them with no problems.
Just this last one I tried, powerDVD XP doesnt seem to like the file format for some unknown reason. (I havent tried to play the same SVCD in winDVD, but I did rip the same clip to VCD instead of SVCD and the result was still the same, Bad file format.
What I did notice was that when you do "Configuration, Information" in the powerDVD screen, it reports that the audio is "Either Mpeg1 or Mpeg2" when usually, it reports it as mpeg1. Is this the cause ???
And if so, how can I make it mpeg1 audio, cause DVD2SVCD doesnt seem to have any changeable settings for that ???

The audio in SVCD have to be always mp2, what is "MPEG1-layer2", and DVD2SVCD should make it always in this format.

OK, just to add a bit more confusion to the matter, I downloaded and burnt another movie tonight, and when I did "Configuration, information" in PowerDVD, it reported that as Audio:- mpeg1 or mpeg2, yet that cd image played perfectly...... So why does mine not !!!!
To go back to my original question tho, I know that I can mount the image in Daemon, then select to burn the avseq file as SVCD in nero, but, then I will loose the chapter extraction, so I dont wanna do it that way.........
I might add, that, I have never had a problem like this before, and I have been using DVD2SVCD for a long time now, before that, I did it the hard way using Flexion's Guide (Respect, and shame that site went down). This latest rip has got me right confussed tho, I just dont see why PowerDVD refuses to play the image, yet plays the .dat file.
Many thanx for your help so far tho. I guess I'll just have to keep trying !
Cheers Peeps..........

You have missunderstood the 'foolproof' burning. Read the Q&A (again?). You don't have to burn the avseq but the whole virtual disc with NERO, so you won't lose the chapter information.
