Hi folks,
I'm trying to use Trilight's guide to turn a DVD-9 to a DVD-5, so far with no luck. Everything's fine up until the frameserving stage with Avisynth 1.06 (it's supposed to work fine with CCE 2.64 under XP!) I try to load in the script into CCE and I get a dialog box that says "OpenMovieFromFile() failed(0)". Any ideas? The path is correct, but here's the other wierd thing - if I try to open the .avs with Windows Media Player (right click .avs, select Open With...) it fails to open. If I open it with MPlayer2.exe though, it works! I've a felling these problems are related, but have no idea how to fix them. If anyone knows, please help! Oh, and DVD2AVI is working fine. Thanks,
PnaG.

CCE 2.64 can't load avs-files. You have two options:

1) Use CCE 2.50.

2) Use VFAPI (or load your avs-file with the last line
ConvertToRGB()
in VFAPI) and load that into CCE 2.64.

Okay, I'll try that and thanks! Isn't there a problem with 2.50 and Athlon processors, though? Do you know where I can get the patch that's supposed to fix it? (As far as I know, it's an unofficial patch...)

That is covered in the CCE FAQ (Q6). Just disable the audio. Encode your audio with Besweet and mux it with your video in BBMPEG for example.

Ahhh, your are making a DVD5... You only need CCE for the video, so you should have no problems.

Hello again, Wilbert, and sorry to be such a pain! I can't find the FAQ for CCE (I know, I'm dumb.) How do I disable the audio?

I can't find the FAQ for CCE (I know, I'm dumb.)
There exists a CCE forum which contains a FAQ :)

No idea, I never have used CCE.

If you've NEVER USED CCE, then how can you be giving advice?

CCE 2.5 doesn't work correctly in XP - which pnag said was being used.

And I tried adding ConvertToRGB() as the last line in my avs-file, but VFAPI only accepts DVD2AVI (d2v) and TMPGEnc files, not .avs files, so how do you load the .avs file? Have you ever tried your advice, or are you just repeating what you heard might work?

Make sure this line is added (usually as the last line) in your .AVS

ResampleAudio(44100)

Post the text from your AVS -- the folks here will help, but only if you let them...

Umm I've been using 2.5 CCE with XP for almost 8 months and i've never had a problem with it? Are you sure about what your saying, or have you ever thought that it might be your particular computer configuration that has a problem with XP, and 2.5?

Just wondering? Who know maybe it works for me on all 3 of my computers by some freak accident?

officially 2.64 and higher supports XP, but earlier versions 'may' run on XP for some people (i doubt no one computer has the same confic/software isntall), but not guaranteed to run, and may cause weird errors.

And you want further advice from me? Of course I have tried my advice (and of course sometimes I rumble what other people have said). Download read_avs.dll (here (http://www.vcdhelp.com/forum/userguides/87270.php)), change the path in the reg-file and run it. After this VFAPI can read tpr, vdr and avs files. Voila!

CCESP 2.64.01.10 READS .avs under XP (and Win2K and NT, don't use the other shit)!!!

Touche. I did come across as rude; my apologies. I also did not type what I meant to...which was many people SAY that CCE 2.5 won't work in XP, but it does for me. I was just pointing out the danger of repeating possibly bad information.

Anyhow, thank you for giving further advice to a once and future a$$ like myself ;)

Mikeathome, you said that CCE V2.64.01.10 recognised .avs file?
I got a copy of that version, and I am running it on an Windows XP, but I can't get it to accept .avs file. Everytime I tried to open an .avs file, a windows popped up with a word "The" in the middle.

Any ideas?

Hi,

post your script please. The single word 'THE' is an indication that there is a mistake in the script !
Ensure that the path to the mpeg2dec.dll and the .d2v is appropriate and that you did not move the VOBs arround after creation of the .d2v file. Drop your .d2v into VirtualDub and test whether you get the right movie.
Note: There's still two minor bugs incorporated with that:
- the preview in CCESP does NOT work this way you'll get an error message in japanese
- NEVER EVER reload an .ecl file, always create a new project, use templates to setup your needs (Tsunamis CCESP Patcher does great prework on the templates !)

or open the avs in virtualdub and read the error.

Thanks Mikeathome and auenf, I got it to work now
I had the name of the d2v file spelled incorrectly, once I fixed it up everything is working.:p

Thanks again.
