View Full Version : Losing Sub Sync in Maestro and SubRip

I'm using SubRip 1.02 to extract .bmp subtitles for DVDMaestro.
The subs starts out correct. But as the movie continues playing, the subs starts getting out of sync.
What is going on? How can I fix this?
Towards the end of the movie, the subs are about 7 secs off. The very first .bmp is correctly timed tho when I added it to DVDMaestro.
I have to use .bmps because the subtitles I'm ripping are chinese and japanese, so OCR doesn't quite work, since I can't read them to translate. :)
Note: I remember downloading SubRip 1.021, but when I clicked on SubRip's about, it only says 1.02, so I'm not sure how you can tell between the 2 versions. Maybe I just installed it to the wrong directory.

I suppose, you are processing NTSC DVD.
As I see now, we forgot to add DROP FRAME option to header of son file. That's probably your issue. We add it in 1.03 version. Meanwhile you can manually edit the .son file.

Could you provide an example of the edit required please ?
Thanks

I'm not Maestro user, but I suppose when you work with 29.970 fps video material, you must to check Drop Frame. Or override it in Maestro.

whew, i've been here for 5 hours trying to figure out what's wrong (never suspected maybe it was the program!)..

well, just gave the new version a shot and i'm still having sync problems..my symptoms were the same as the original poster's (subs in sync in the beginning, then slowly they go out of sync)..
is there an option we have to select to fix the import-to-maestro bug?

I don't have Maestro in front of me, but I think you can right click on the subtitle line and choose something like: "list subs" or something. Then it will come up with all of them in a list box and you can select them all and hit delete.
Hope this works for you.
Also, I have the same synch issues in Maestro. I followed the guide to the letter, even making two m2v pulldown files, thinking this would solve the problem ... but it didn't.
If anyone has figured this out, or has seen a thread addressing it -- please post!
Thanks
