hi, i recently tried using the VCDXBuild option in DVD2SVCD to get DVD chapters on an SVCD. when i burnt the image and played the SVCD in WinDVD and PowerDVD i did get the function of being able to press the skip chapter buttons (|<< and >>|) to navigate but i found that no matter what chapter i'm in, the player always displays the current chapter as chapter 1. this causes a few problems with navigating across chapters.
i can't test with a standalone DVD player, but is this problem suppose to show on WinDVD and PowerDVD? is there a way to fix this so that when i skip chapters, the right number will be displayed (like the DVD)?

As far as I know sometimes software players will have prblems with this. I think that its just the way that they work. I am pretty sure that if you put the SVCD in a settop DVD player that the chapters would work fine.

I have the same problem and that's on a standalone DVD-player! The chapter number is always 1 and that's a bit annoying. Does anyone know what the problem is? I have used VCDXBuild to create my images.

Other than the annoyance factor, is there anything else wrong? Do the chapters still work properly?
The issue could just be your specific make/model of standalone. As long as it works, then you should be alright ;)

Your right. There's no other problem but the annoyance factor! I am more than satisfied with the results! Everything is working great except that little number thing. I don't really care about it but if it's easy to get rid of then hey, why not!?

hi guys, apparently there isn't any "problem" with the chapters. it's just how they work on an SVCD. i made a similar post on vcdhelp.com and a knowledgeable soul was kind enough to enlighten me on the subject. check it out, very informative and you'd understand a whole lot better how chaptering on an SVCD works.
