I am backing up 'Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone' which is a Warner. Bros. movie and, after looking in Smartripper, it has 6 PGC's in the main movie vob set (vts_01). They look like this:

PGC 1 - 02:32:12
PGC 2 - 00:00:19
PGC 3 - 00:00:32
PGC 4 - 00:00:02
PGC 5 - 00:01:50
PGC 6 - 00:02:23

I don't know where to start. Can I just rip PGC 1 by itself (this is obviously the main movie and I don't want the other PGC's) and then use Trilight's guide on it? I was read that for mulitple pgc titles I have to use ReelDVD, is this true even if I rip just PGC 1? OR do I have to have the other PGC's in there for the final DVD to work properly? If I must use ReelDVD, can I still use CCE to encode the main movie? IF not, is there a ReelDVD guide? Sorry about so many question in one post :) Thanks.

if you want only the main movie without any movies and extras you can use whatever program you like (if it supports your audio and subtitle configuration that is). But if you want to keep the extras and menus (or menus only) you will have to reconstruct the whole main movie VTS set and that means duplicating all the PGCs you see there. ReelDVD and Scenarist are your only options in that case.

When you said this:

"if you want only the main movie without any movies and extras you can use whatever program you like (if it supports your audio and subtitle configuration that is)"

What do you mean, 'if it supports you audio and subtitle configuration'? Is Maestro then an option?

What do you mean, 'if it supports you audio and subtitle configuration'? Is Maestro then an option? meaning the number of audio track, the audio track format and the number of subtitles.
as an example: not all authoring programs support 5.1 AC3 so this would be limitation number one. Then, tools like ReelDVD have a limited number of audio and subtitle channels (I think 3 of each).. so if you have many audio streams or subtitle streams you have to look for yet a more powerful tool. Both scenarist and maestro don't have such limitations (the only limitations there are the DVD specs)... so, yes, Maestro will do.

All I want to do is the main movie, I don't want the other PGC's. Is there anything special I have to do to the other PGC's (i.e. do I have to strip them out or anything?) I ask because the last Warner Bros. movie I did had mulitple PGC's and when finished it and played it in my Sony, it froze, apparently looking for the next PGC.

if you want only the main movie without any movies and extras you can use whatever program you like I don't see any ambiguity in that.. only the main movie = no extras, no movies, no nothing (= no ifoedit).. you create a new disc from scratch in your favorite authoring program and that's it.. as soon as you want to start keeping things you MUST duplicate PGCs and since the only programs capable of doing that are ReelDVD or Scenarist you can pick one of these two tools and NOTHING ELSE!

Once again.. only main movie = reauthor from scratch. more than main movie = reeldvd/scenarist including duplication of EVERY PGC that's in the main movie VTS set! Ifoedit doesn't support stripping by PGC so there's no way around this. Either you keep menus and or extras and have to go the hard way.. or you create a new disc
