DVD is 4.7Gig why Nero see it as 4.4Gig ???

So is it common that I have a Memorex DVD 4.7 Gig and when put into Nero 5.5.80 it only see as 4.4Gig ?....Is it media problem or that is just common. Same thing goes for DVD-R/W 4.7Gig. It only see as 4.2 or so...Why ????

Because a DVD isn't truely 4.7 gigs.
It's one of those things when manufacturer made up numbers, they decided to use 1000 = 1, when in reality it's actually 1024 = 1.
Do the math and you will see it's not really 4.7 gigs.
