I didn't know where to post this..it's not an authoring problem, so I just put it here. I have many SVCD movies that all work just fine on my home DVD player and on my computer...and on several other computers. The problem is that when I try to play them in my office computer they wont play. I have a LG 40x burner and a Pioneer 16x DVD player in this system. I have installed the Ellecard and the Nimo codecs. I have Power DVD and Win DVD. No matter what I try, I get errors trying to play the SVCD files. I'm using WinXP on all systems mentioned and the one in question is an Athlon 1.4 with 512MB DDR and a Radeon 7500. ...just trying to give any pertinent info i can think of.

Any ideas of other avenues I can try for this? Have already uninstalled and reinstalled all software and codecs.

WinDVD error: "The file number 1 has invalid format"
PowerDVD error: Just crashes or says DVD may be dirty.

Thanks!!!

I have the exact same problem, but i thin kit has something to do with XP. Before i was working with WinME and they played fine.
After installing XP and WinDVD again, the SVCD's won't play anymore.
A few times they did though, that's stranged. I tried installing the latest trialversion of WinDVD but it didn't solve the problem.
I cannot be the only one having this problem and i do have read messages from people having the same problem on internet.

-Can it be that i created the SVCD's in WinME and now playing them in XP?

-The original multiplexed files play fine in WinDVD, it's just the compiled SVCD.

-I used DVD2SVCD program (with TMPGEnc.) to make the discs, also once recut one mpgfile with Tmpg-encoder.

-For sure it's not the hardware, because on other pc's running XP it has the same error with WinDVD, even another version again.

-Can it be the TMPGEnc. not being compatible with XP?
Are there any peple who has the same problem using original SVCD's?

SBOldman, do you have original SVCD's? Let me know what your setup is and wich programs you used. Did u also make the SVCD's by DVD2SVCD and if yes wich encoder did u use? TMPGenc or Cinema Craft Encoder.

Maybe they are XSVCD's (not SVCD's), and you need a filter to play them... !?!

I have installed the Ellecard and the Nimo codecs.
No ! Not the Nimo codec pack... !!! :scared:
Causes much of conflicts ! Install only the codecs you need, not more !
