How can I capture DV video with the date, time? I use Premiere 6.0

...it seems nobody knows a good answer, so I can speculate a bit ;)

I came to the conclusion that the camcorder has to have a function to enable sending the date-display through firewire. The Sony PC-100 doesn't seem to have it, I don't know about other camcorders (but regarding the amount of answers you got, I don't think there's a big chance other camcorders can do this)

I think if your camcorder supports on-screen display of date/time, then you should see it on the DV capture, too. Personally I never used that, but I'll try this evening to make sure (I know my camcorder supports date/time display).

But you can also add date/time through filters later, either using AviSynth or VirtualDub.

hmmm, maybe I just never tried it with the Sony camcorder - I'm not sure anymore.
I'm glad I never had that nasty date and time display in my captures by accident :)

DV is a standardized format which contains already time and date in it.

Only problem is that most avi editors (like premiere, msp) cannot extract the info.

In this thread is a solution

... and as I did explain there already simply use AIST moviepack 4 (which has an inbuilt timestamp function).
You have to set the correct initial timecode and then it shows as you know it from your camcorder.
This allows also to manipulate the timecode which maybe was not properly set in the cam.

phew... I guess in the time you go through this procedure you can just as well create an animated avatar that walks into the picture and tells you time and date... ;) :D

(I mean the first procedure - using AIST seems a lot easier)
