This question has been asked before but I'm still not clear on it. The movie I'm backing up (A Bug's Life), has 5 sets of vobs. All I am going to keep is the main menu, main movie vobs and 1 audio stream. My question is this, the main movie vobs are located in vts_02_x.vob. If I use Trilight's method, should I rename the vobs that Masetro creates to vts_02_x.vob or leave them as vts_01_x.vob? I ask this because I'm a little unclear as to how the main menu will function. If I choose 'Play movie' on the main menu, it would normally look to the vts_02_x.vob set to begin playing the movie. So my final dvd project would include the video_ts.* files and the vts_02_x.vob files. Is it ok that there is no vts_01_x.vob set? Will this create a problem during playback on a stand-alone? Thanks.

Here are my results aftering testing:
Test #1 - Renamed vob set to vts_02 but Gear complained of an invalid video_ts file (the video_ts.* were all original as per instructions of Trilight's guide). Nero also wouldn't even burn and gave me an error.
Test #2 - Left the newly authored vob set as vts_01. Copied over the vts_02_0.bup, vts_02_0.ifo and vts_02_0.vob from original and renamed them to vts_01_0.bup, vts_01_0.ifo and vts_01_0.vob. Gear verified it ok and Nero burned it ok. Problem - when I put it into stand-alone, it didnt play. BUT, if I hit the DVD MENU, it would go to it and then everything was fine. It was like the stand alone didn't know what to do when the DVD was first started.
Any help? Thanks.

I did AI (3 VTS, 1 title each). VTS1 is small, np, vtsé is the movie, vts3 is a making of i want to keep but too big in original bitrate (about 1 Gb)
So , i reencode vts2 nicely with CCE, vts3 more agressively, with a 2500 bitrate (quality suffer of course, but enough for the making of)
Then create a project in Scenarist with 3 VTS and imported all stuff.
I choose to keep 2 ac3 6ch + 2 subs for the movie and the 2 channel for vts1 and 3
So, added 2 dummy 6 ch on vts1, be4 the 6ch, add a dummy 2ch on VTS2 and 2 dummy 6ch before the 2ch on vts3
this way, all vts have 2 6ch then 1 2ch (this is needed by scenarist, check doom9 guide for details)
Then once files created from scenarist, I replace vts_2_1.vob.... by the authored ones, and vts_3_1.vob. i used IfoUpdate 3 times on IFO VTS 1,2 and 3.
I use IfoEdit to remove dummy tracks as my standalone has np with that, and of course GET VTS
Works perfectly, with just a poor quality on the making of.
You can try this way for the result you are looking for.
