RIght now I have a type-2 .avi that I want to process with CCE. I only want to do the video in CCE and the audio in something else. 1) When I demux the audio from the video into a PCM wav file, the time doesn't match up with the video length, why? After encoding the video in CCE, I have to use the pulldown proggie to make it 29.97 fps (i think). Any help?

Which prog do you use to extract the audio? Do you CUT the video and the audio in the same program? Do you get the same audio problems when demuxing a type-1 DV file with your video editing software (not possible with VirtualDub)?

Regarding the pulldown I must admit I don't have the experience (as I live in Germany having 25fps PAL). Anybody else?

I used Vdub to 'save as wav' option. I have recently tried Ulead DVD Movie Factory but it doens't let me enter a bitrate valye for the video, it just asks if I want high quality or low quality DVD. I choose high quality and the finished DVD was only like 2.2 gigs (its a 48 min DV footage Im converting to DVD). This is the reason I want to use CCE becuase I can enter bitrate values for it to get the highest quality.

Well, what I do is cut the Video (and the Audio at the same time, of course) in Ulead VideoEditor, but then save it as DV type-2 AVI. Then video and audio should still match, and I then switch over to VirtualDub to encode. Maybe you should try it this way.

BTW: Before I used MGI VideoWave, which wasn't able to export type-2. So I exported type-1 DV video, and exported a separate WAV. Then I processed the video and the WAV file in VirtualDub as well. Worked fine, too.

Hope that helps,
