try to put two subtitles on your project and choose english for both language(or any language, just make it sure that you choose the same language for both subtitles). go to "scenario editor" drag your video to your vts title, go to "simulate window" and play. if you notice, the subtitle won't switch,it will only play the first subtitle.
why is like that? is it a bug?
there are dvd titles that have 2 english subtitle( english1 and english2) how did they put the same language?

No it's not a bug! I don't have Scenarist installed now but had the same problem. you have to go to the top level and set the maximum subs to custom and change to 2!

Atlantis,

If you're still checking this thread, can you be more explicit in your instructions as I'm trying to do as you suggest but don't quite know where to look.

Ta for any help

Hmm will have to check this out. I noticed when creating a scenarist project if I had two english language tracks, ie. english and english for the hard of hearing, if I set them both to english then the second would dissapear when compiling the project. I got around it by setting the second to Zulu :) then changing it with ifoedit back to english after compiling the project.

Obviously this is how to do it properly, will look into it thanks.

rjgn,

Just used your method and it works very well. Thanks for the idea. If you get the other method to work will you post explicit instructions

Ok after much searching on the forum I've finally figured out how to do it from within Scenarist!

After importing your 2 sound tracks and possibly 2 subtitle tracks like I needed to do, and after setting up the track in the Track Editor goto the Scenario Editor.

You should then have dragged your track to the VTS Title.

Now click on the PGC folder (the folder without a disc on) just below the VTS icon (the folder with a disc on).

Now look in the properties window (the bottom middle window in Scenarist). If you scroll down you will see the 2 items called:

Audio Availability Flag Policy
Subpicture Avilability Flag Policy

Click on each of these and change them to Custom. You then select the 2 option that appear bellow. ie.

Audio Stream 1
Audio Stream 2

and

Subpicture Stream 1
Subpicture Stream 2

You can now set both your language tracks and subtitle tracks as the same language and they should be fully working!

You can also set one of the language tracks as Director's Commentary (amongst other options) and you can also set a subtitle track to Forced Caption (ammongst other options) Here's How:

Click on the Video Title Set icon (the folder with the disc in it) eg. VTS_1

Now look in the properties window (the bottom middle window in Scenarist). If you scroll down you will see the last 2 items are called:

Audio Language Code Extension
Subpicture Language Code Extension

Double clicking on each of these gives you the option to change the Code Extensions.

Hope this is of some help :) :)

Thanks for that.I haven't tried it yet, but I'll implement it on my next project (if it needs multiple english subs). I've been trying to work this out for ages, so thanks again.
