ok, i did my first rip of a dvd using gordianknot and dvd2avi etc.. The quality is GREAT of both the video (divx5.0.2 pro 2 pass-first pass) and audio (ogg ac3)

BUT I ripped it at a dumb resolution, cuz I thought the program had adjusted the settings itself :(

now I want to readjust to get a nice 16:9 ratio, but I'm wondering what the best way is to do that.. In nandub etc you keep on having to use full-processing, but doesn't that re-encode the file? And wouldn't I loose the great quality I got? The movie is watchable if you can squash (sp?) the picture a bit, but it's still annoying, especially if you're trying to use tv-out...

so, any comments would be greatly appreciated!

the latest divx5 decoder and FFdshow both have options to adjust the aspect ratio on playback

or you use a player like BSPlayer, it can switch to any aspect ratio you want
