Video Captured by PowerVCR II , now need DIVX / XIVD settings to encode

Now using PowerVCR II(this program is from heaven) , i have capture videos in Mpeg-1(Superior) format(damn Virutaldub doens't support Mpeg-2) .

The videos are perfect , perfect video and audio quality.

Now I need advice , as to compress them using virutaldub or any other program . I need to watch all these program (which are all general 20-25 min after the advertisements are taken out) in FULL SCREEN FORMAT on my pc.

I want to encode them like those friends episode u get on the net , very good quality(but they are not full-screen quality) and good audio quality.21 min of good audio-video is generally 100 MB.

I have Win Xp home / Win Me , Pentium IV 1.6 ghz , 640 MB Ram / 30 GB barracuda hdd seperate for Capturing/ editing/ conversion.

Now I need some excat settings for compressing them,like wat do use ? I don't care weather it's Divx3,4 ,5 (pro , basic) ,XIVD , until it's goood compresssino and gooood audio , I am ready to give it a shot.


1 last thing , should I capture in Mpeg-1 or Mpeg-2 , does it make any diffrence , ??????

Use MPEG1 and then compress in Virtualdub. Use the DivX5.2 Gain codec, use two-pass encoding, with a bitrate of about 650 to 700k. There are detailed guides about how to do this all over the Web.

Or you could just use Showshifter (www.showshifter.com) and record straight into DIVX.

Or keep it as it is and use avisynth and vdub to compress it to some mpeg4 format. Don't qoute me since I haven't really tried it, but it seems like it is possible.

that's wat I do right now , use virtual dub


hmmmmm......

showshifter cannot find the full version anywhere , so I am gonna stick to PowerVCR II only..

One thing , the divx I convert is not coming full screen , it comes distorted , when it's full screen,using DIVX 3 , 3000 KBPS !!!!!!



I am gonna try to capture in higher resolution and let u know now
