I have been using Generic DVD-R Discs for backing up my DVD's. I normally use Princo or Pengo. I have used also Maxell and TDK DVD-R. Considering the resulting video quality, without re enconding, which DVD-R offers a better quality?

I have seemed to notice that on Maxell Discs, which are far more expensive than generic media, the video does not pixelate on some occasions.

Does the media you use influence this video quality?

The Media has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with the video quality!

pixelation is purely a reading problem.. if the player can't read everything it's supposed to you get pixelation, or even video breakups and in the worst case the video will skip ahead a couple of seconds (sometimes even to the next chapter).
