HI,
I am looking to transfer from my dv cam to dvd-r. I am capturing several AVIs using my firewire card from my dv cam using premier. Then still using premier editing into final film, then exporting timeline and I am left with a 26 gig AVI. I want to then convert it to MPEG2 for burning to DVD-R, So I thought rip the audio in dvd2avi and convert with cce and multiplex it back together in Maestro. but when i try to rip the audio dvd2avi thinks the file is 2704x128 resolution and wont do it. The file plays fine in media player or powerdvd so am I capturing it correctly. dont know if I should try virtual dub or if im barking up the wrong tree. Ive looked for guides but cant find any.
Any help greatly appreciated

I assume you have rendered it as dv.avi ...
Why donīt you simply open it in CCE (or Tmpeg)? Thatīs what I always do (besides loading into avisynth).
dvd2avi is designed to open mpg not avi.
Restriction to max. 2 GB has been overcome in versions after 2.50 SP.

Yeah I tried CCE but when I go to encode I get a error message
Couldn't find appropiate codec for dsvd.

Normally the integrated MS DV-Codec should do the job. It is part of directx.
Otherwise install the free to get panasonic dv codec or any other dv codec like mainconcept dv codec. Decoding dv is free with mainconcept (while encoding to dv gives a watermark).
So it is probably better to use panasonic dv :)
Or again - open it with Tmpeg or avisynth or other direct show compatible software.

OK ive installed both the codecs but still get the same error :(
dont know what im doing wrong......is it a XP thing?
Ahem, I think if you install more than one DV codec they will interfere with each other. Install just one.
On my XP system everything's running fine...

I found out that my main problem was using CCE 2.50. I have upgraded to 2.64 and it works fine.
Thanks for the help
Bod...
CCE 2.50 SP needs Type 2 DV (or frameserve with avisynth).
I think your version of 2.64 will not work longer than 30 days ;)
If you install more dv codices always the last one only will work ...

Ok sorry if im sounding like a bit of a nugget but...
When trying to convert from the AVI outputted from Premier 6 CCE keeps crashing with a audio error (doing audio and video together). so I thought OK rip the audio from the avi encode the video in CCE then auth it in Maestro. I have ripped the audio using tmpgenc to a huge wav file
AVI = 27 gig
Wav = 1.36 gig
MPV = around 3.9 gig
now when I used CCE instead of a wav I got MPA and it was around 300 Meg. So whats my best option. will maestro sort the audio out so it will fit on the DVD or do i need to convert from wav to mpa or rip straight to MPA in the first place. If its rip from AVI straight to MPA what do I use. ive trawled the forums but to no avail.
hope someone can help as DV to DVDR is becoming my personal nightmare :(

Try frame serving through AviSynth (don't forget the ResampleAudio line to fool CCE). For the audio part I'd rather use BeSweet.
