I sometimes try to rip a DVD that is badly scratched. It plays okay in a regular DVD play (ie, at 1X). However, it gives read errors when the ripper is spinning at its maximum speed. Could a feature be added to these programs to select the MAX rip speed to help overcome these read errors? Or, even better, an intelligent speed control routine that will automatically drop the speed when such errors are encountered and try again (instead of just dropping me out to my desktop). My Yamaha CD-R/RW has this feature when ripping tracks from CDs, so I suspect that the technology exists.
