i recently got some problems playing back the audio of couple movies ..

the whole story:

warcraft3 did crash on startup, after thinking about it some time i figured it's probably interfering with some of the numerous audio/video codecs installed on my system, so i just uninstalled every codec.
later i reinstalled every codec i need, but i noticed wma audio won't play back. the codec is installed and not disabled, but it jsut doesn't play back, no matter what player i use (tried wmp, BSplayer, PowerDVD) :scared:
when i go to the audio codec page, i see wma codec, if i go to settings and close the window it's gone from the list of codecs.

i think there's probably soemthing messed up in registry, and i need t find a way fixing it WITHOUT reinstalling my windows XP

all help will be appreciated :)

Something you could try is to install DivX 3.11 alpha (from the description of your problem, I presume you only have 4.12 or 5.02). Gej had included in v3.11 a hacked version of the M$ wma codec, suitably modified to be used in avi files (the so called DivX audio compressor 4.02; check in Control Panel > Sounds and Multimedia > Devices > Audio whether you have it, or not).
