dvd rip speed

Hi i have windows xp and i'm trying to rip movies with my lite-on 16 dvd rom drive but the speed wont go higher than 1.8x I know you go to the device manger and turn DMA on but still nothing happens. Did anyone else have the same problem? Can you guys help me out?

You may well have turned it on, but is it actually activated? What mode (DMA or PIO) does the OS think the drive is running in?

Try updating all of you motherboard / ide drivers to the latest versions.

Also make sure you have it correctly configured in the BIOS. Check that the drive is found as a udma drive on bootup. Look for a firmware update for the board / drive too - that may also help.
