I am backing up a lot of my anime dvds using the XVID(06/28/02). I am using GordianKnot and VirtualDub. I want to find the best method of deinterlacing. All of my live-action movies I use TMpeg and IVTC. They all work fine. But when I try my anime dvds, they are jerky, and over all dont work well. So I just use a deinterlacing filter that comes standard with V-dub. I am not completely satisfied with it.

So my question is, whats the best way of deinterlacing anime dvds?

P.S. I posted in this forum because I didnt want to limit the responses to just specific tools. I am alwasy open to suggestions on different tools. Although I would prefer to stay with XVID.

If I am mistaking - Sorry

Most Anime DVDs (95% of them) have to be IVTCed.
My favourite IVTC filter for AviSynth is IVTC2.2 with the settings ivtc(44,11,95)
The other 5% are badly authored or genuine 30fps.
The genuine 30fps Animes (very very rare) don't even need deinterlacing.
