since divx is kinnda standart u can play any on dream'
As all avi format by the way.
The point is that u have to process the files before burning in order to make them "dream'-compliant"

So....have fun but remember that mod-shipping ur dream' is risky and illegal.

BeNBeN: dont lecture about something you dont know...

You don't need any kinfd of mod-chip to use back-ups from your games or playing: mp3, vdc movies or divx movies.

Just the right apps and a boot cd. even boot-cd isn't necessary, but needs little bit more work.

And I know this because I have played these files all on my dreamcast. Actually I just bought dreamcast again last week cause the prices are really low for those and it is kind of handy to use it to play music videos or mp3 files and you dont have to carry your vomputer with you if you are going to holiday somewhere..

For divx movie I recommend resolution 480x480 cause that's all it can do..and for vcd little bit lover bitrate than standard if you want really smooth video. Mp3 files all work great.

ok tough guy,
first, don't tell me what i'm suppose to write or not, mind ur own stuffs.

then, where did u rode anything about a mod ship requirement in playing divx? i just remembered that such things are illegal.

then i'm sorry to tell that u took the worst way of reading my post, when i say "dream-compliant" it means that u can't put a divx movie directly in a cast and start reading it, u need at least a player on the same cd and maybe a boot.i didn't explain everything in preview post cause what u are arguing as if it was ur own knowledge takes 53 secs to be find on the web so...

when u have to shoot, shoot, don't talk.

ok, I was away a while thus my reply being so late...

I'm kind of an dc expert myself and I'm comfirming here that Benben is quite incorrect.. in general (talkin' about this subject only - don't wanna start a riot).. Mod chipping is not illegal and owning a chipped console doesn't matter too, in US and Europe.

As was said before (and a bit more):
Mod chip is only required when you want to be able to play every original import. Most do play with bootdisk tho.
Does not play Divx/Vcd like a pc does but when taken the advice given above, it's pretty good. And last but not least, we are talking about a regular Divx (not a re-encoded Sega format that I can't remember the name of..Benben was confused with this older trick).

DivX player- Can play divx 3/4/5 MP3, Vorbis, etc.,

You put in the player disc, wait for it to load, and put in the movie.

You can have the movie on the player disc as well, if you know how to make a self-booting disc.
