if i press continue i get the same error. if i press no. "appication terminated" and then i get this:
http://www.tj.no/images/error-2.gif

I have no idea what is causing this.. Some .avi files works just fine... I've loaded one file that does not work in graphedit and one that works and they have the exact same filter grap :/

That's the error message if there is VBR mp3 in AVI. Unfortunately, only the debug dlls of directshow report this, so 99% of the divx releases have VBR mp3 :'(

I don't use the debug DirectX dll's, but I have noticed that if you mux a divx with even CBR mp3 in NanDub, you still get the same prob. How do I know, since I don't use the debug dll's? If you later open the muxed avi in VirtualDub, this complains that VBR audio stream has been detected. I guess it's sort of NanDub bug, I remember that Avery Lee himself wrote a very descriptive (although highly technical) article about it back in December 2001. Personally, I always add a pseudo-wav header in the mp3 and mux the wav-mp3 in VirtualDub.

You may be right, I just tried to mux an mp3 without a wave header in nandub and it shows the same error in media player. Even virtualdub says it is VBR, while it is just 128 CBR.

So, NanDub "bug" (call it "design feature" if you like) is confirmed. Btw, I found Avery Lee's article, check the topic "12/02/2001: How seeking in AVI really works, a.k.a. why your sync is off" at the top of the page http://www.virtualdub.org/virtualdub_news_old.html As regards myself, I have to admit I cannot follow myself all what our guru says, nevertheless it's interesting reading. My assumption why 99% of the DivX suffer from this, as you say, is that most of the people are using GordianKnot which makes the final mux in NanDub, or not?

Yea... gknot and nandub must be very popular. I hope it isn't a hidden time bomb in our avis. If MS decides to define this as an error in the avi instead of just giving a warning in the debug build of dshow dlls, we will be in a big trouble :)
