sorry for this question but i haven't found any answers as yet.


i have made many SVCD's in the past but never VCD. Is it possible to use DVD2SVCD to create VCD's ?

my standalone DVD that i use to play SVCD died and i only have an old DVD now that won't play SVCD

It won't automate VCD creation for you.. you'll likely have to do several steps manually. You can output to MPEG-1 though, so that's a start.

BTW - Why would you want to output to VCD? Lower quality all around...

DVD2SVCD now does vcd's, just load the VCD-settings.ini template that comes with DVD2SVCD and encode your VCD.

also there is a thread on creating a vcd with an mpg2 stream, so your player that doesn't play SVCD's will play the VCD with SVCD quality.
I don't remember right now where I saw the instructions to do that.

i'm gonna give the template suggested in DVD2SVCD a try when i get home today.

i've had a quick look for that post on making a VCD with DVD2svcd but haven't found it yet, if anyone comes across it could you please post a link.

The included VCD Settings.ini file with DVD2SVCD ver 1.0.9 build 3 will NOT make a fully compliant VCD mpeg file. Only with the new to be released version 1.1.0 build 1 is it possible to make a proper VCD mpeg file and then still the VCD Settings.ini file needs to be altered.

Need to select Tmpgenc (not CCE), VBV set to 40, etc, etc. Its all in the attached INI file.

Okay, so the attachment feature doesnt work.

So this is my INI file that I use to create 100% compliant VCD's with 1.1.0 Build 1. Its since you included the TMPGenc VBV setting that the mpg1 file can now be VCD compliant.
