Since there could be some nice coders :) interested to extend this good tool...
As title, can you? :cool:

I've wrote my own muxer that is in some aspect superior (well, it depends on you point of view, to be honest) to OggMux (someday I'll maybe even release it...all I need to do is add CLI but I somehow lsot my interest since Ogg+D5=broken frames) and belive me, it's not hard. All you need is basic knowledge of DShow programming (Dx 8.1 SDK) and you're set (more or less). The only thing I don't know how to handle is splitting, but hell, it's not keyframe accurate anyway.

Besides, this theread is probably more at home in Developers forum.

I wanted to ignore and forget this thread first, but since there IS activity...

Well, it's really not hard to code such a program.

If someone wants ground-up opensource he can just begin and do it that way.

I already wrote that I'll release OggMux sources at the 1.0 stage. The code is a mess and has to be cleaned, and there are some features I wanted to develop with Tobias, but he is busy.

I think there is no better way to tell someone that he sucks - asking him to release his sources, so others can do it better. I tell you what, make it better yourself, code your own opensource version.

Annoyed,

Koepi

as always a matter of interpretation:

could also mean: 'i like your tool because it is great and useful. it cood be even better and more useful, however. Yet, since you seem to lack the time to develop it further at the moment, why not have me and some other people try, so that you can and join in again somtime later on? probably we could save our and the users' time by taking your surely not so unbelievably messy sources as a basis'

yet, i fear, this interpretation is deviant and pervert.:rolleyes:

i hope you are unable to find a negative interpretation for this post.

Since my english language knowledge is prox to null :(, therefore even my posts (with or without translation tools) can suffer a bit by form/intent/tone-elegance, so if when reading my post you have felt something irritating or aggressive this absolutely doesn't enter in my (italian) methods... sorry.
Neither inside my post (I think) I have pointed you out of "nice coders" inplicitly. (?)

plus, you Koepi, you could have considered these common mortals like me and simply reply in the simpliest form.

Forum is forum, so if in other situations some other dude could have annoyed by you for any silly or good reason, this doesn't mean that irritated dude must reply expressing himself so intricately, as your post.

kilg0r3 interpretation is very clear and warm, but Frankly I have written the topic so briefly to be most simple and honest possible as simple is the ask itself.

@Everyone but Koepi: doesn't koepi seem easily annoyed lately? Oh well, I can understand to an extent, but none of us except him can fully understand it so I'll avoid speculation and maybe one day there will be a thread with the subject "Ways to humble Koepi and Ways to annoy Koepi" that will define the fine line some easily step over.

@mtrooper: maybe you should post your sources, let us poke around and learn

Side note, anybody know when we can get our hands on DX9... i'm drooling over the possibility of coding directshow using C#

Wow. Another way to show how much you spit on my work :-(

Guys, you're all very creative when you want some work done which other people get MUCH payment for!

Slow down.

Keep cool.
Chill out.

I really want to continue code OggMux etc, but you're really starting to annoy me THAT much with these often-replied-and-explained questions/requests that I loose every (yeah, I mean EVERY) interest in further coding.

Just today I was checking out some ways to construct timelines in directshow - but I lost my motivation when I came back and read this crap here again.

Maybe you should buf-report to M$ that your computer doesn't playback pirated content as you wish and refuses to create such as well. They'll sure help you! AND: they have something that keeps them alive each month!

After all this ranting:

ONCE MORE!

I do this when I have time left and want to educate mysekf.

I DON'T OWE ANYONE OF YOU ANYTHING - SO FORGET ABOUT BEHAVING THIS WAY!

I have serious trouble earning money somehow with my knowledge (which isn't bad), but it seems like you prefer see me starving to death over let me having some serious job and doing this coding work in my spare time :-(

Just some explanations...

@Koepi

Maybe the reason that you "have serious trouble earning money somehow" is because of your piss poor attitude and seemingly unstable personality.

If you come off in the work place like you do in the forums I wouldn't want to work with you.

If it's just to frustrating to deal with the common folk and causes you to loose every (EVERY) interest in further coding then maybe you should look for a different hobby to do in your spare time.

Who are YOU to judge over me? You don't know me a slightest bit.

I'm not justifying my actions to you. You should be _very_ careful what you write. Your post is WAY out of line.

I'm in no way an instable personality. I just get upset about some things - and if those things happen in a short time period then they cause something you could describe with "harmonic amplification".

And what's so "piss-poor" about my "attitude"?

I work for _nothing_ here and you guys always complain that this sucks, that could be done better, and somehow development is too slow anyways.

If you get plenty of such insults, you'd maybe also loose your frame and tell the people that you'll do this and that if you find the motivation and time, and if they continue to rant (like in your simple very annoying and insulting post) you will NOT find the motivation.

You once more write your post as if I'd owe you. I assure you, I don't!

@jpl & Koepi
don't insultate you in this forum plz, we are all in the doom9's forum to give a hand or to search help, not to fight.

@all
if koepi don't update oggmux version i suppose it because he have a lot of work and he try to develop some fuction with Tobia who are very busy , it's not because he stop to develop OggMux , just wait.

@koepi
OggMux it a good software but if a lot of people ask u for some feature it's not to annoyed u, but because they use often your software and are afraid by thinking u have stop the development, i think by sending a msg on oggmux the people show there interest in your work and try to help you to improve your soft, i think it not correct to "loose" these msg but it's my opinion.

On More : i suppose Koepi have worked a lot of time on oggmux and he have the right to no share the source code, but u can find a nice documentation on the microsoft siteweb on the direcshowfilter and how to connect pins.

End Word : I think this thread mus be close.

Thanks for the nice words Dark Cracker.

I don't take constructive input as insult btw., but I really often explain why I refuse to add this and that feature (mostly because I added them, but they caused buggy behaviour and I found no way around that. This is the case for editable dropdown-boxes - they don't get updated, and if you force an update() on every action a user takes, it STILL doesn't get updated...).

I do agree that this thread belongs into nirvana.

Mods, please close it!

@koepi : be patient with the guys. Sometimes they are so excited how wonderful the tools are they get from you, they maybe simply forget there is not Microsoft or any other huge company behind them with 100s of coders on their payroll, probably because the tools look absolutely profesional ;) !

@all : i know it was not in your intention to insult koepi, but only the expression of your wish to make his tool even better than it is today. But please, try to see things from his perspective : he is spending hours and hours in front of his PC to provide you with this tool, and after a short sentence that its quite nice and you like it you go on critizing it, telling how many things could be improved, and even ask him to open the sourcecode so you can make things better than he can.

In the end, OggMux is a bit similar to Virtualdub 2 ( Avery said its going to be DShow based ) with reduced capabilities, and we all know that Avery is working on it since a couple of months now and it doesnt seem to be even close to being released !

We all should be thankful to koepi for giving us OggMux and wait patiently what he is planning to do with it in future .... or will anybody here want to volunteer to create another Virtualdub 2 ? ... ;)
