This might be a basic questions for you guys but it is difficult for me to work out. I am trying to to rip a DVD on two discs but the first one must cut off at a certain time (Let's say 35 mintues), how do I do it?
Please keep it simple.

Read the Q&A, no. 46 deals with ur question.

If u don't wanna cut by chapters u should enter the "CD image" tab and select do not create images. Then cut the encoded .mpg with virtual dub. Help on how to do that can be found at http://www.vcdhelp.com

How does that work, say I am doing a 3 hours movie, will it save a one big file of about 2400mbs (800mbs x 3 cds)?

@iceman
well i think your kinda lost at what you want or how 2 say it, because i'm confused now. So i can only guess at what your saying. If what you are saying is you want to ripp a 3 hour movie and want each disk to have 35 minutes on each disk then you can follow the Q46:.
If you want to ripp a 3 hour movie and want to use 3 cd's then you can go under the "bitrate tab" in dvd2vcd and you'll see that the default settings will give you 3 disks for a 3 hour movie.
if you dont want to do either of those things, then i dont clearly understand you.

Sorry about that chainsaw, I want to burn mutiple SVCDs from a dvd. I do not know how DVD2SVCD cuts the first SVCD and continues on to the second SVCD. I want it to able to conrol exact cut off point, let's say 40:00:30 (Or whatever time that might be) which may not be the end of a .VOB file. I like to fit about 40 mintues on each SVCD.
Am I made myself clear? Pleaes let me know. Pepsimaxx suggested I do not do cd images to overcome the problem.

Yeah, his suggestion is a good one.. or you can use tmpg to do the cuts...or what the "Q&N #46: says" its all up to your preference, dont be scared to test which works best for you. Let us know which way you chose and how it went...

Yeah his suggestion is a good one, but I do not neccessarily want to spend 15 hours every time I experiment, I thought some one will know the answer.
So let me get this cleat If I do not select CD images, I will end up having a big file which can be split using other apps and also chapter can be addes later on?

Yes to your questions, and read this
You can use this method to do a "ripping-by-chapters" encode of your DVDs. Just select about the first half of the chapters if going for two CDs and follow the above instructions. So you can convert a DVD in two steps after doing the same with the second half of the chapters. Another advantage is you will have a split point that is at the end/beginning of a chapter like it is on the DVD and not during a conversation or an action scene.
Make sure you use the Internal routines tho if your planning on doing this type of ripp/backup.

Once you've split the large output mpeg2 file to your liking, you'll need to burn it with vcdeasy (or Nero, but vcdeasy gives you more control). You can then set the movie title, chapters, etc. manually. It'll take longer than having DVD2SVCD automate the process for you, but it's the only way if you choose to go down this path :)

Thanks UltimateDBZ, yeah you are right but I am looking for perfection. I am sure it will be worth it! I am still not sure whether DVD2SVCD will work just doing one file instead of doing multiple image files.

Doing one large file has always worked for me, so I don't see a reason it shouldn't work for you.
