View Full Version : Possible bug in dvd2svcd?

Hi ya
first, i have tried searching for it and couldn't find anyone having discussed this before and i have read the FAQ (skimp through it actually)...
ok, the problem is not really a big deal but it is kinda annoying.
Me and a friend of mine have noticed that after any encoding we do, there always seems to be missing 2-5 seconds at the beginning or any movies or episodes that we tested this with. You don't normally noticed this with movies since the missing few seconds is before the movie actually starts (ie only during the company logo) but if you are doing episodes backup, than the first few seconds tend to be noticable since the episodes always start before the intro...ie startrek, farscape, angel etc etc.
We are currently using dvd2svcd ver 1.0.9 build 3 and CCE 2.5 running windows 2000.
Previously i was working with Windows XP with dvd2svcd build 2 and CCE 2.65 and i don't think there was any missing seconds but can't remember now....so im not really 100% certain.
Another problem i have noticed when using windows 2000 to windows XP was blurring of the colors...using the same settings but different OS, the pictures colors are all messed up...has anyone encounter this problem before? This seems to occur with CCE 2.65....running 2.5 seems to solve the problem. BUT atm, im thinking the missing few seconds is due to 2.5 but i can't go back to using 2.65 due to the colors messing up.
Any ideas? or im i talking crap here? :p

Post a log of one of the conversions you speak of, that should help us determine possible causes. I have never had such a trouble, so it must be something relative to your settings and/or your machine.

thats the log file from the last rips i done where i noticed the missing few seconds at the front of the eps...but i don't have the log for the problems with the colors, since it seems to occur only with 2.62 (wrong numbers mentioned earlier) and 2.5 seems to solve the problem

Set the movie offset to 0 (bbMPEG tab) and do a short encode. This may only affect the audio, but we'll find out. Report back the results.

Looks like it worked!!
I set it to 0 and the missing few seconds is gone...but the problem now is this little note ">0 is recommended. It can solve desync on DVD players" which i really like to avoid...
any thoughts on this?

@SxLee
If you dont have any desync then dont worry about it. Thats only there as some DVD players MAY experiance this problem. :)
