View Full Version : Scenarist experts? Trouble with multiple angles...

Ok, first, let me give some background on the title I am working with. It is "The Cell" and I am working with title set 4. It is comprised of 7 PGC's, most of which have 3 angles. I have extracted all of this and re-encoded it with CCE. I have even imported all of it into Scenarist and set up most of the PGC's. (I even surprised myself having never used Scenarist before. hehe)

Anyway, the problem I have is with PGC7, the final one. Extraction showed 2 angles. I cannot put them together, however, as one seems to be 1:53:08 in length and the other is 1:52:12 in length. When trying to add the second one, of course, I receive the error "Video for angle is too short to fill scene." I do not know how they could be together on the original disc yet be different lengths and prevent me from combining them in Scenarist. Does anyone know how I can take care of this problem? Thanks!

Yes, there is a feauture of DVD called "seamless breanching". Many people, in this forum too, mistake "seamless brenching" with "seamless multiangle", but the features are very different. "Seamless multiangle" means a track with many videos, and you can jump from one angle to another angle seamlessy, without audio gaps. "Seamless branching" is similar to "not seamless multiangle", because every video track can to have own audio and subtitle setting (in seamless multiangle you have only one audio and subtitle setting, common from all angle tracks). The big difference: "seamless brenching" allow different lenght from tracks, "not seamless multiangle" not. So, I think the movie around you are working have a feature similar to this. Only a few very professional authoring software manage this feature (panasonic and toshiba system). Scenarist have a little icon named "story" dedicated to "seamless breanching", but is inactive from many version. May be this feature will be inserted in Scenarist 3.0.

Hi, and good luck

Going on the definitions you provided, what I am wanting to do would be considered "Seamless Multiangle". I have one audio track and two video tracks. It was the same with all other PGC's I did on this title as well. It worked perfectly on 1-6 but the 7th one has slightly different times for the two video tracks. How can I use these two video tracks together without receiving the error?

Since Scenarist allows changing the start time, try do this to the 1:53:08 video to make it same duration as the 1:52:12. Difference is not even a sec, so I suspect you don't miss much.

I've never tried this. Just a suggestion

Thanks Tom. I finally figured out the same thing after messing around with it a bit. Unfortunately, Scenarist went on to complain that the GOP's did not line up with the different angles and it would not allow me to mux it all together. It's pretty picky. Ultimately, I got tired of screwing with it as I've wasted too much time on this title anyway. I just did the main angle in each PGC.

For anyone paying attention to this particular thread, I posted my solution HERE. (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=28917) I just couldn't leave it alone! ;)
