In May of 2002, RealNetworks, Inc. contracted Lab Acquisition Corporation dba KeyLabs to conduct testing comparing RealNetworks RealVideo 9 (RV9) clips to Windows Media Video 8 (WMV8) clips.
The results show up in the PDF you may download at:

It's interesting even though it doesn't go straight on what many of us HERE need to know: how large is the gap (because there IS a quality gap) with DivX-MPEG4 + Vorbis; imho it represents a third party's objective work, which btw also let me understand why Doom9 still hasn't published a serious RV9 test/comparison: it's a looooot of work!
