Hi,
just had real producer 9, did a few tests and got a non-scoop : it rocks.
The best is that it supports mpg2 imports.

BeN,
I can confirm this to you, even though I have only used it until now for doing 3 full-length rips
- 1 was a straight conversion of a DivX5 movie, succeeded with resize/crop from Real Producer
- 2 were .avs frameserving .vob's ripped from DVD; the first was a 2-hour movie, the second a 2h40mins movie, both fitting on 1 CD with more than acceptable quality (perfect and sharp on TV screen, little less-than-perfect on PC monitor - audio 64K ATRAC is astounding).
For all rips I heavily used VDub (nr.1) and GKnot (nr.2 and 3) to calculate the right resizing parameters and the overall bitrate.
Once again, all old problems I had with my first 95 DivX rips, such as (A) audio out-of-synch, or (B) wrong lenght estimation, i.e. more than 1 CD requested are simply _forgotten_: Realvideo has no problems with synchronization, no problem at all with filesize prediction (I just input 1 or 2 Kbits less than the GKnot suggestion, i.e. 736 if the suggestion is 738, and the filesize is always OK).
The only problem I had: I'm using Real Producer beta 9.0.0.887, and when I try to change the bitrate it crashes abruptedly (both on Win2K and on XP). My workaround is simply to manually edit the xml audinece file, and enter theright bitrate manually.
Please let me have also your feedbacks / comments / suggestions for improvment.

I'm currently working on a "wizaed" mode for my rm9 gui. It will be released simultaneously with my new web page.

From what I know, I wouldn't use the Real Producer Plus 9 Beta at www.souxin.com/en/. That version has a known membory leak of 1MB per hour, so for non-testing purposes it isn't good. Just stick with the preview for now as that's what Real Networks recommends. It has the same video quality/features.
Oh but That program does include a nice RealMediaEditor. That's right we can finally easily edit our RM files. Nothing too complicated but its a start.

what does "membory leak" mean??? 1 MB per hour doesn't sound that much...

A memory leak is a bug which causes a part of the memory (RAM) in your system to become unusable for ANY program until you reboot.

right - who cares? :D :D :D
if it wasn't that I measured an average 20 to 30% speed _decrease_ by using the nice graph interface of Producer, when compared to the old good commandline.... maybe called by Latexxx' RV9-GUI, of course....
did also anyone of you notice a speed decrease?
and - did you succeed to queue more than 1 job, so that when the first finishes the second starts automatically? to me it didn't happen (the first finished, the second needed to be kicked up in the butt to start... hehe |=)

You hadn't the input and the output video window enabled? Or had you?

@Razorblade2000:
yes I had; I'll retry with both windows disabled.
@hurts70:
thanks, that was surely for that reason. not immediate, in any case, you may agree ;) hehe...

I was playing with the commandline rp9 producer as suggested, and I don't remember now where the option was, but I saw an option for enabling error correction or error compensation. Does anyone know if this option would protect the audio too? if so, I think real video 9 would become a good format to use on mode2 cds for >700mb cds.
thanks!

maybe the only thing you can do is try it by yourself...
as i know,this option is only opened for net transfering....
