Could someone what priority settings should I put, and to which VFAPI plug-in of TMPGEnc? I'm under XP, and since I messed up with some with those priority settings, when I tried to open a mpeg file, TMPGEnc immediatly crashed. Then by attempting to find again the good settings, I managed to keep TMPGEnc stable with a mpe file, but it crashed again when I tried to open the source range menu in the advanced settings, and now again my TMPGEnc always crashes with mpeg files...

Delete Tmpgenc and download and install it again.

With a software dvd player installed you can use DirectShow to open mpgs and therefor have to set DirectShow on top prio. The more "clean" way is to use DVD2AVI to create a d2v-prject-file and open this.
I personally haven't succeeded in opening mpg with the built in vfapi, but the two other options are good as well.
When using DirectShow it seems that not all SW-DVD-players work equally well, I tried PowerDVD
