I’m using InfoEdit v0.91 and DVD Decrypter 3.1.1.0

First, thanks for the guide, being a newbie it has reduced my pain significantly. I appreciate the time you have dedicated to this. I have a few questions, however.

Miscellaneous:
Movie: Harry Potter
Pentium 3 500Mghz
192M RAM
40G HD (for video only)
Windows 2K Pro
Burner – HP 200e

1)When the decryption is complete I do not get a VTS_TS.IFO file the only files that are created are:
VTS_01 – AV DELAY INFORMATION
VTS_01 – CHAPTER INFORMATION
VTS_01_01.INFO
VTS_01_1.VOB
VTS_01_2.VOB
VTS_01_3.VOB
VTS_01_4.VOB
VTS_01_5.VOB
VTS_01_6.VOB
VTS_01_7.VOB
Am I doing something wrong?

2)Even after I perform some processing within InfoEdit the only new file that is created is the .BUP backup file.

Note: I tried using InfoEdit to create the new VTS_TS.IFO file. It also created a new VTS_01_01.INFO file.

After I did this I played the result using the DVD play option. It worked fine however, when I tried to Strip out unused menus InfoEdit crashes. It says it’s creating a log but I can’t find the file.

3)When using the stream processing feature of the DVD Decrypter I select only the English streams. This leaves me only one Language Unit in the .IFO file. So, Step 3: Strip out unused menus. When I try to strip out unwanted VOBids the Laungage Unit stream list comes up, there is only one (English) I leave it checked, hit “strip it”, Then the VOBid steam list comes up and I select the IDs I would like to keep and hit “strip it”, nothing happens. The program doesn’t hang or anything, its like I never clicked the button. I tried unchecking “Striping Language Unit’s” and leaving only the “Strip VobID’s”, same result. So, I went to Step 4: Strip out unwanted audio tracks and subtitle streams and stripped the VobIDs there. Does this provide the same result? If so, once I decrypt the original and select only English from the stream processing menu, I can skip the Step 3 and save time by doing this in step 4.
4)Why do you not check “Create new VIDEO_TS.IFO and VTS_01_0.IFO “? If I do not check this I get an error once the processing is complete stating it can’t find the .IFO file and creates a new one anyway. ( My output is always to a new directory). However no VIDEO_TS.IFO is created.
5)I am using REmpeg 2 to Transcode because of the comment you made that is creates less playback errors, If the TPMG Transcoder provides better quality could you explain what the issues are with TMPG?
6)ReMPEG2 take 20 hours to transcode Harry Potter. Is this normal? Does TMPG process faster? Is there anything I can do to optimize.
7)The last VOB file only contains the credits. Can I leave this out of my CFFL file?
8)Finally, there are a few new fields in InfoEdit that are not in your guide.
SPLIT OT @ DVD-Rs – this seem very straight forward. I assume you doe this when you have a large set of VOBs and the Transcoding would degrade the quality to an unacceptable point. I will try this with Harry Potter next.
SEAMLES BANCHING – I have no clue.
KEEP TITLE – Again, I have no clue what this is used for.

Hi.

1/ check the DVD decrypter guide. it seems youdo not get every files but only the main movie.
VTS_01 – AV DELAY INFORMATION
VTS_01 – CHAPTER INFORMATION
VTS_01_01.INFO
Thiese 3 files show you didn't rip everything but strip some audio or whatever. Follow guides and rip EVERYTHING from the DVD, then strip using IfoEdit. DVD decrypter can strip but do not update IFOs.

you should have, at least : Video_ts.ifo & .bup, VTS_01_0.ifo & bup and vts_01_1,2,3,... .vob
In nearly every case, you should also have video_ts.vob and vts_01_0.vob.
And most of the time there are other vts like vts_01_2 ifo bup & vob

2/ retry with all files, and carefully followinf the guide. It's working, believe us.

3/ question answered in 1/

4/ because we want modify existing ifo,not create new ones and loose informations.

5/ TMPG produce best quality in less time but, in fact, seems to modify the GOP sequence, which make impossible to directly remux in IfoEdit. You need to author with scenarist for example.

6/yes, unfortunatly. Does someone know the author of this proggie in order he allos some people to have the source code or do a new version ? :-)

7/if not there, you will get an error at least at the end of playing, as this is described as existing in the info. Just do simple to begin.

8/SPLIT OT @ DVD-Rs ? never see that. only see Split to 2 DVD-Rs ;if you want 2 dvdr from your DVD9.
seamless branching... see that later and read in the forum or search
on google
KEEP Title ? where is that ?

First, thanks for the reply. I believe you that it works, I'm just thick!

On the original disc there are the following files:

VIDEO_TS.BUP
VIDEO_TS.IFO
VTS_01_0.BUP
VTS_01_0.IFO
VTS_01_0.VOB
VTS_01_1.VOB
VTS_01_2.VOB
VTS_01_3.VOB
VTS_01_4.VOB
VTS_01_5.VOB
VTS_01_6.VOB
VTS_01_7.VOB
VTS_01_8.VOB

I decrypted the movie again. Using 3.1.1.0, I basically started it accepted all the defaults. Here are the files that were created on my HD:

E:/HARRY_POTTER_SORCERERs_STONE/VIDEO_TS
VTS_01 – CHAPTER INFORMATION
VTS_01_01.INFO
VTS_01_1.VOB
VTS_01_2.VOB
VTS_01_3.VOB
VTS_01_4.VOB
VTS_01_5.VOB
VTS_01_6.VOB
VTS_01_7.VOB

Not all the files were placed on my HD. So, should I now copy:
VIDEO_TS.IFO
VIDEO_TS.BUP
VTS_01_0.IFO
VTS_01_0.BUP
And what about:
VTS_01_0.VOB

From the original DVD to the VIDEO_VTS file on my HD.

I can’t find any mention of this in the guides.

Thanks in advance.

OK. Using file mode I got all the files that were on the original disc. However, there is no video_ts.vob. Is that a problem?

There is only one language unit so should I go direclty to Step 4 in the InofEdit guide?

You MUST have a video_ts on your DVD.
Did you try to scroll up to get every files ?
Or to do like said in the guide with ctrl+A or edit==> get all

Please, read guides carefully step by step and follow them.

Hey guys, In order to rip all the files in DVD Decrypter, you need to go to the Edit Menu and choose Select All. All the files will be highlighted and then you can begin your rip. Sometimes, especially for Warner Bros. movie, there is no video_ts.vob. If you wanted to make sure that you've copied all the files, just open your DVD Drive in My computer and count the files then compare it with those in your hard disk.

Thanks, that's what I did and there does not appear to be a video_ts.vob. By the way this is a Warner Bros. movie. I am in the middle of transcoding it now, just another 15 hours left. I will let you know if it works. Could someome please point me it the direction to read why I would use the IFO processing part of Decrypter if it doesn't rip all the files.

Thanks

topgun is correct. There is definitely no VIDEO_TS.VOB. But IFOEDIT still works fine, just follow the guide.

My fault. You are right.
Topgun wrote :
VIDEO_TS.BUP
VIDEO_TS.IFO
VTS_01_0.BUP
on the original dvd, and I don't know why but i read a video_ts.vob.
That's why I insist on the fact it must be there after thr rip.

Video_ts is not absolutly needed I think.
Anyway if IfoEdit has some trouble with, why not just pu a dummy file ?

but, still, I don't see why DVD decrypter would not get
VIDEO_TS.IFO
VIDEO_TS.BUP
VTS_01_0.IFO
VTS_01_0.BUP
VTS_01_0.VOB

except if you just choose main movie files except of All files.

I'm sorry if I confused the issue. Let me clarify. When I decrypt in IFO mode I get the files I spoke of in the first post. If I use File Mode (Tank’s to klona) I get all the files on that are on the original disc:
VIDEO_TS.BUP
VIDEO_TS.IFO
VTS_01_0.BUP
VTS_01_0.IFO
VTS_01_0.VOB
VTS_01_1.VOB
VTS_01_2.VOB
VTS_01_3.VOB
VTS_01_4.VOB
VTS_01_5.VOB
VTS_01_6.VOB
VTS_01_7.VOB
VTS_01_8.VOB

Again there is no VIDEO_TS.VOB. I read in one of the guides from Derrow that there MUST be a VIDEO_TS.VOB on every DVD. But, here is one without. Has anyone successfully backed up their Harry Potter disc?

I am nearly done transcoding; I'll let you know if it worked.

My basic question is how does one get all the files in IFO mode?

topgun

Well, I transcoded as described (23 hrs 19 min).

Followed the guide of remuxing and it failed I got the following error:

---------------------------
IfoEdit
---------------------------
There's something wrong!
The file position does not match the offset for table: ID_PTT_SRPTI
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------
Is this what you have been referring to as InfoEdit getting confused?

I never had a dvd without video_ts.vob, so I don't know.
that's pehaps an interresting issue to give to Derrow in bug/suggestion part of this forum.
Before, try the workaround to put a dummy video_ts.vob file.
Perhaps avoid a 0 Kb file which perhaps would also cause trouble.
Creates a dummy files as you want or get a small vob and rename fromany dvd tou have and just try if IfoEdit get the same problem.

Let me know the result, plz

I have rip Harry Potter with menus without problem. It really doesn't have a video_ts.vob file, just video_ts.ifo and .bup. There's probably something else you did that causing the problem but its definitely not because of this file. Another suggestion, before you transcode make sure that everything works well. Try playing the copied dvd in ifoedit and if it plays well then transcode it. Otherwise, you'll be wasting time and end up with a non-working copy.
