I have and old Indeo Video avi file that I have been trying to fix for a friend. It is a slide show of some family pictures that would be impossible to reconstruct as more than a third of them are missing. Do you have any suggestions as to what i can do.

The first third of the movie is fine but then it hits a wall and locks up Either the player or virtual dub. Virtualdubs file information states that the file has only 2 keyframes out of 14000. I have tried frameserving with avisynth (diredtshowsorce and avisource) in the hopes of being able to trim the frames one by one if necessary and i get a decoding error that references a frame number.

Could the avi header be damaged? If so is it possible to fix it.

My Most recent attempt was to use graph edit but I have yet to be able to arrange teh filters to output a file that vdub can even open.

I told my friend that this was a long shot, I hope you guys make me wrong.

Thanks in advance

Ouch, sounds sad.. I don't have any experience with Indeo Video but have you checked the avi using vDub-s hexeditor and the RIFF-chunk tree? That's one place to start finding the spot where everything turns bad. Is the index still there? (Does vDub reindex the file when you load it)
Hopefully there's just one damaged sector in the file and the one could repair it without too much loss...
