The guides recommend using VirtualDub rather than GKnot for converting VCDs (or any MPEG-1 files) to DivX; indeed, I haven't figured out how to use a MPEG-1 *.mpg file in GKnot.
The compressibility check feature of GKnot is apparently the only useful tool for selecting an appropriate bit rate for a DivX convertion. Is there any way I can use the same or a similar feature within Virtual Dub?
