I've managed to use mp4UI to extract the raw video, out of an mp4 I downloaded, into a bin file. So I was wondering, is there any way to convert this to a useable avi? Tried pretty much everything... there is a program avi2raw in the mp4ip package, but it dosent do raw2avi. Is there a windows based solution out there? Am I doomed to wait for an mp4 converter to arrive? Will billy drown in the river? All will hopefully be answered.. next post

Hmm, would Quicktime Pro work on the original mp4?

Quicktime only seems to work with files created with Quicktime ATM. :( Due to the varrying degree in which each setup has implimented MPEG4 and the MP4 format itself there are currently alot of problems.

I've had a small victory getting QT6 to open some of the samples on http://www.envivio.com. I don't think they were made using QT6, but most (if not all) of them didn't have annotations so it's hard to say for sure.

Nah quicktime is out for the sample I'm using, it only opens in WMP4player, RealOne with Envivo plugin and Quicktime 6 give errors on it and don't play. Ah now I know the guy who made it anyway, I suppose if I need to I could just ask him for the original avi.

If it's coded using XviD, that's a known problem... seems currently XviD is not 100% MPEG-4 compatible. :(
However, there is a workaround which Suxen posted in the XviD forum. I really hope it's enabled as soon as possible in the future filter binaries.
