OK, so I've been doing TMPG encoding for my DVD-9 to DVD-5 conversion for a few weeks now, but its being weird. On an anime DVD I recently transcoded, when I play the final product I get really choppy motion, I assume this has something to do with the frames not being processed correctly. Doom9's guide says that the correct settings should load up automatically upon loading the .D2V file in TMPG, but they never seem to for me. So, I was wondering what the best ways to find out are for:
1) Aspect Ratio -- On most anime DVDs, TMPG Says under "Video Source Setting" that it is 4:3 704x480. However, IFOedit said 720x480 4:3 so I went with that instead. For Video-Source type, it always loads as "Interlace." Might this have been a problem with a couple of my encodes, I think I tried encoding the Se7en DVD and it has this same problem (choppy motion). Field order always loads as Bottom field first (field b).
2) Encode mode -- I thought this was supposed to be loaded upon loading of the .D2V as well, but it always loads up as "Interlace". Should I ALWAYS set it to 3:2 pulldown when playback (even on Anime DVDs) like Doom9's guide suggests, or is there a way I can find out for each individual DVD what the optimal method is?
OK, these are the things I'm most confused about right now. Any help would be appreciated--I need to solve this choppy motion problem!
Thanks,
