which dvd-r media is best suited for playback in the ps2? I heard that this is the worst for compatibility so if I find media for that then little worries left about compatibility...using pioneer dvr-a03 for burning

I have been using FWS disks for games and no problems. Should be OK for movies. In the UK they are 2 quid each. I can see you are in the states but here is the url http://www.blankdiscshop.co.uk

I have had success with Vivastar (£0.85) ; Bulkpaq (£1.00) and have just received some more Vivastar (£0.70) from www.lordofthedeals.co.uk
- I believe that they supply out of the U.K.
Happy Ripping

FWS disks didn't work in my PS2 - got disk error (it tried to read for a bit and gave up) Same with PRINCO (Branded) & BULPAQ (Ughhh!)

All disks burnt at x1 using PrimoDVD 2.0 with a Pioneer 104

I have just burnt the same disk image onto a WHITELABEL DVD-R (gold edition) and onto a Datasafe Silver-top (Generation 3) so will try those at home tonight.

Have also ordered TRAXDATA & VERBATIM to try as well.

I'm guessing it is the media as they play flawlessly on my Pioneer 717 Standalone!

Do some PS2 require firmware upgrades maybe?...

Hi I also encountered lots of problems with Vivastar ; Primedisc and other no-names. Verbatium work on each try ... sure they are a bit more expensive but you can be sure about them.

cinders Do you know what version you PS2 is? How many screw holes in the bottom.

I've had FWS, Gen3 (datasafe unbranded) & Princo's all work in my V4 PS2. Some princo's it doesn't play. Trying white label gen2 disks when they arrive. Will let you know if you want.

V3 = Poor laser
V4 = OK laser
V5 = Good laser (also capable of reading DVD-RW)

This is only for film's your intrested in and not games right?
