I ripped a DVD to my hard drive, but I forgot to rip the menu. I want the menu so I can choose the other audio stream and the subtitles. I just want to play it off my hard drive with the subtitles, I don't want to burn it to dvd or anything. But is it possible to just create a menu vob without having to extract the subtitles and the audio and join them back together and everything? It seems like it should be simple but I don't know how to do it..

You have no choice but to re-author it. Many people confuse VOB files and think it's something simple that can just be added back in. It cannot. VOB files are a product of multiplexing, or "muxing" audio, video, subtitles, menus, etc. during the DVD compilation process. You will need to reauthor and compile if you want a menu.

Is it necessary to rip the subtitles to text? Why can't you keep the pictures?
EDIT: Nevermind, I guess you can keep the pictures, I see your other thread
