DivX vs. WM8

Guys,

Can anyone tell me which is better DivX (which I currently use) or
Microsoft's WM8 format.

Can you tell me where I can get a guide to go from DVD to WM8. I just want to compare the 2 videos.

Is there any good tools for working out bitrate etc for WM8 videos. I current use GKnot (thanks to TheWef).

WM8 is crap -> too high detail loss + crap text encoding: if you have a video with subtitles, the subtitles will be quite hard to read.

The bitrate of WM8 is calculated the same way as DivX5
