I used to write these discs at 2X, with whatever program. My latest box however only allows me to write at 1X, testing can be done at 2X. Is it my writer having trouble suddenly, or are the discs changed (other manufacturer)?
I think i read somewhere Apple discs are rebranded ones, and now they have changed to verbatim or some other, could this be the cause?
Too bad, in the beginning i was very happy with the Apple one's: cheap, reliable, 2x burning...
Other media suggestions?
P.S. I bought them in Belgium.

I have also read that Apple’s were re-branded Pioneer disks. Like you, I find them to be the best quality and value. Have you compared this disk to the previous (2x burn) batch? Look at the serial # for changes, the innermost circle, the stenciled front and over all color of the disk. Please post your results. My most recent purchase is burning at 2x and is exactly the same.
I like these re-brand Apple’s and I haven’t found a Pioneer-R disk for under $5.00 [US] anywhere.
I read in the April/May news pages of BurnWorld.com an announcement by Pioneer that they where increasing production and decreasing pricing. I have yet to experience that.

My last order of Apple DVD-R media where not the re-branded Pioneer disks. It looks like Apple has changed their media provider. You can identify the new disks in two was. One, they are made in Japan (not Singapore). Two, they have no serial numbers in the inner circle, like the re-branded Pioneers do. The new disks are not as compliant as the re-banded Pioneers; meaning playing them on a stand-alone DVD unit they “glitch” (freeze and jump ahead). To bad.
I am returning these new disks for a refund and will purchase Pioneer band disks. Hope I can find then for under $5.00 U.S.
I have yet to find a disk, other than Pioneer (and I’ve tried almost all other them) that does not create “glitches” or wont play in some of the more demanding players (i.e. Play Station 2). Does anyone else know of a zero “glitch” DVD-R?

I have burnt over 150 dvd-r's and have made only one coaster(that wasn't my own fault) and they all play perfectly on my ps2. here is the link, although they are not the best at delivery time unless I call them directly and tell them that I demand good delivery time. they are also a sister company of meritline which i don't really like, but for 84 cents and near perfect results, I will live with it.

Hi,
I recently switched to Verbatim DVD-R. Same quality at lower cost. I get them for €3.50 (~ $3.20). They absolute rocking good quality and always burn at 2x in a Pioneer Burner. I have more than 50 APPLE DVD-R burned before w/o a coaster and now almost 30 Verbatim w/o a coaster, apart from self created authoring glitches ;-)

Can someone run ADVinfo on these two sort of disks, the working and the not working.
If you check ADVinfo list (sticky post) you would find that Apple 2X DVD-R sold in different stores were already reported as TDK-R2-0 and MCC-R1-0
