This has been troubling me for days, i ve been trying very hard to make an SVCD :(

I am a newbie to SVCD burning and i need you experts to help me.

My DivX file info: 640x272

I have Virtual dub and TMPGEnc and i use 700MB/80MIN cdrs.
i just need to know what are the settings to do in TMPGEnc that can encode a movie of the highest quality? i have read guides and tried them, but the quality is not that good.

Are there specific problems with the output (stretched, particularly grainy, etc)? Without more specifics it is very hard to offer advice.

If it's stretched, you may need to select "Keep Aspect Ratio" on the Advanced tab under settings (under Video Arrange Method, in the TMPGEnc 2.5 series). This should add the black bars to your video, although it will probably make the encode take just a bit longer. If this doesn't work, try making a .avs file using GordianKnot to check the aspect ratio.

If the file is grainy, you can try doing Noise Reduction in TMPGEnc, of if you make a .avs file first, use one of the Blur or Smoothen plugins. Use "Highest Quality" motion search and encode at a high (up to 2500 or so) bitrate.

You neglected to tell us the length of the avi file. If it's a full length movie, you'll definately need to make it two or more SVCDs. Switching discs is a pain, but otherwise you simply won't get the quality you want.
