Hi All ,
I have a weird problem when I try to convert from DivX AVI (I'm not sure what is the version 3 or 5)
the avi size is 700 ,but the mpeg file became larger !!
1 GB!! & I got a Black screen with audio only.
I read the guide for Divx-VCD but there is nothing about the black screen ! I also searched for the topics on this fourm and didn't find anything too!
Could You help me please ?
Waiting for your support
Best Regards.

To tell what codec was used to compress the original you could right-click the file in explorer, or load it in VirtualDub and go to File->Poperties, or just play it (most players display the codec somewhere).
Seeing as you mentioned DivX->VCD I think this would be better suited in the VCD/SVCD encoding & authoring section.
Thread moved.

Download and install AVISynth, and then create an AVISynth script that just loads the DivX file. Use this for the conversion, rather than the original .avi.
As for the file getting much larger, well that's to be expected. DivX is highly compressed and simply a different codec. VCD-compliant mpegs will be much larger. You can generally fit 74 minutes of VCD onto a standard CD, or 80 minutes onto an 80 minute CD.

Hey be aware that the standard Windows Media Player can't play VCD or SVCD streams. So if your Media Player is somewhat configured not to tell you when it can't find a codec, you'll get the audio only. You should either get a software VCD player or burn your video on a CD and test it directly on your DVD player.

I solved it ..by Installing Divx 3 old drivers although I have divx5 bundle installed ! but I installed the old versions and the encoder worked perfect !
thanks again
