View Full Version : BbMpeg unable to write to output file?

Patjen
13th June 2002, 18:08
I've already searched the forum(s) but found no solution...

My problem:

after one of my harddisks died on me (part of stripe set), I bought 2 new HD's and had to reinstall all soft.

system is W2000 Pro with SP2, Via 4in_v4.38, bla bla bla...

reinstalled CCE 2.5 SP + crc error patch;
reinstalled DVD2SVCD109b2

ripped movie "Three to Tango" using internal routines, encoding works fine but BBmpeg at the end always gives me the error "unable to write to output file" at 33%....

HD space is no problem, 150 Gb free space :-)
dir names contain no weird chars....

anyone got a possible solution ?

I'll try to install WinXP this evening and see if that might work, although I'm a big fan of W2000....

Underneath I'll enclose the log file, in case I need to enclose more files please let me know...

Thnx

1) Disable your antivirus software
2) Seems muxing and cutting worked. Did you select "make no image" in the CDImage tab ? There is no Authoring program selected in your project file (Author = )
3) Use recover option, then select VCDXbuild in CDImage tab and hit go !

Quote from dvd2svcd :Lemme guess, your either using TMPGEnc CQ, or CCE 1 pass VBR to encode your movie?Try at least CCE 2 pass VBR. I personaly use 4 on my slow PIII-450 machine : better wait longer than retry 2-3 times.

No antivirus program is or was running.
First encode that gave this problem was 4 pass VBR but I retried it in CBR to check again. Haven't got the first log file anymore though.
VCDXbuild was selected under CDIMAGE tab.

muxing and cutting did not work, only got part of file0.mpg...

Strange is I've done about 100 SVCD before with this great program and they worked 99% of the time.

Something for the X-Files maybe ????

heheh that is so true man.

To make things even stranger, I just installed Windows XP, installed CCE 2.5 SP + DVD2SVCD 109b2, started DVD2SVCD, picked recover and the recovery file previously created under Win2000 (starting with muxing and cutting)...guess what !?!

No problem whatsover....:-)

Still need to verify the BIN files with Daemon and Powerdvd but normally when the images are created they were always ok...

I wonder what OS the "Pro's" prefer ?? :-))

Sign, guess WinXP will have to stay for future encodings...at least muxing works with it,I just hope CCE and the rest do too ...

If I've got the time, I'll do another install of Win2000 (with only SP2 and Via drivers...I guess some of the security updates or a newly installed Raid patch for VIA chipsets might be the culprit, I'll let you know)

I myself use windows xp pro. I have all the windows versions so it's not like i haven't tried them all:).

New encoding of the new movie under WinXP did not succeed, again BBMPEG stalls at around 47%.
But now I've noticed that I've got a AC3 file of around 300Mb but the mp2 file is only 20Mb (thus incomplete)...This is probably the reason why muxing stalls.

I'll try to reencode the audio with vob2audio and see what happens.

Are there any known reasons why the AC3 decoding might fail ??

Alternatively, I used vob2audio to create the wav file and converted that to mp2 with TMPGEnc...renamed the file to Encoded_audio_1.mp2
and copied it to rip directory..then started "recovery-->muxing and cutting".....worked ok then...

This is not the first time I might add that the mp2 file is incomplete .

Thanks for your attention DVD2SVCD ;-)
