Hi
I'm fairly new at DVD2SVCD. I have been able to complete all the encodes ( about 10-15 so far) I have started with the caveat that I have to reboot my computer at some point during the process. My computer seems to slow waydown by the time it gets to the muxing for ex. After reboot, all is well. I am currently using suggested one pass VBR technique.

On the last DVD I encountered an unusual problem. The file created by CCE has the time all wrong. THe movie is Nico Icon and time is 1:07. This is correct in the movie length pulldown menu. The mpv file has the time as 4:20? The muxed file and the finished svcd only have 34 minutes of the video...

I no longer have the dvd, but do have all the files from the process still on my hard drive. I will try running process again just before encode but have my doubts about everything working out.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

I don't have the time now to look over your bigger issue with the video time, but as soon as I do I will see if I can help with it.

As for your computer slowing down and such that is most likely due to the poor memory handling of Win98. I would highly recomend upgrading to XP or if you don't like how new that is then 2000. Both are far more stable and give you the added bonus of working much better while CCE is running. In all cases I recomend a reboot after DVD2SVCD finishes just to flush the occasional wild process. Although it is much less likely to be needed with XP and 2000.

Mark...

Thanks for your reply, I will definitely upgrade to 2000 (no xp for now...)

I retried the encoding process for Nico Icon with the same results. I have to delete the files but will try again at some point with the dvd in hand. So- no need to rush on your reply, but I am still a little curious about what is going on.
